About Us

Audrey_155x200Audrey Wells began her singing career by joining every chorus she could get into from the age of 9 onward. Four years in a college female a cappella group not only solidified her love of harmony, but also introduced her to her husband, Jeff (see bio below), who sang in the same school’s male a cappella group. She prides herself on being the youngest in the group (by 2 days) and on hitting the highest notes without artificial help. When not performing with MB4, Audrey also sings with a rock band, the Kvetching Schmendricks, but in her down time, has also been known to sing in the shower, the car, her office and anywhere else with good acoustics. In “real life,” Audrey is an accountant and the mother of three beautiful daughters.

Ro_155x200Roberta Foster believes she began singing at birth and her friends and family will confirm that she hasn’t let up since. She has lived at least nine lives in her singing career, singing in a barbershop chorus, a madrigal group, a rock band, a folk duo, several classical choirs, in musical theater, and considers Moderately Bright Four to be her most exciting and rewarding vocal venture yet. She has sung in a bathhouse (England), a wine cellar (France), a salt mine (Poland), Cobo Hall (Detroit), and can’t wait to see where MB4 will lead her. By day she is an elementary school teacher and yoga practitioner.

Steve_155x200Steve Kohn started out singing a cappella in high school in the choir's Boys Octet. In his junior year, he began his illustrious thespian career (which does not mean what a lot of people think it does), landing a part as a member of the barbershop quartet in the school’s production of The Music Man, a role which he reprised twenty-five years later with the Cranford Repertory Theatre group! Steven has also performed in Hello Dolly and No No Nannette. In addition to being a versatile and accomplished singer, Steven also plays guitar and piano (neither of which is allowed in an a cappella group like MB4, but admirable talents just the same).

Jeff_155x200Jeff Wells was born a poor white child, the quintessential country boy. He tuned his musical ear to the sounds of nature while being raised in a barn. Using the springboard of his high school thespian career, Jeff went off to college and was accepted into the world famous Binghamton Crosbys. While touring around the country with this college a cappella group, he learned much about the world, including flush toilets, running water, and the conveniences of electricity. Also at college, he struck a chord with Audrey and their harmony has been resonating ever since! Audrey is the soprano to his bass, the sharp to his flat, the legato to his staccato, and the lyric to his “dum.” Jeff personifies the stereotype of the vocal bass part, and is proud to do the “dum” thing for MB4. Basses Rule! By day, Jeff is a chiropractor and Dad to Audrey's three beautiful daughters.
